Scheduled
We have scheduled a major release update to the Nutanix Frame platform, which includes a number of feature enhancements, updates, and bug fixes.

Below are a few of the key features included with this update:

- Custom keyboard profiles and hotkey mappings
- Ability to change instance types for persistent desktops
- Ability to centrally configure the Video Buffer session setting from the Dashboard

In addition to the platform update, we will also begin our phased rollout of the Frame Server version 8.0 upgrade wizard on Frame Account(s) deployed in the public cloud (AWS, Azure, and GCP). Frame Server 8.0 marks the transition to our new VM-to-Frame control plane communication architecture: “Frame Guest Agent” (FGA). FGA will be replacing the legacy “MF2 Service” (mf2service.exe) component on all Frame Sandbox, Workload, and Utility Server VMs.

We are enabling the option to upgrade from Frame Server version 7.x to 8.0 on an account-by-account basis to give customers access to the upgrade prior to pushing the upgrade to all Accounts. Customers will have up to two weeks from when the FGA upgrade wizard is enabled on their Frame Account(s) to perform the on-demand upgrade.

Frame Accounts deployed on Nutanix AHV will be eligible for the on-demand upgrade to Frame Server 8.0 starting in late May.

As with our regular updates, that typically roll-out weekly, these updates are not expected to result in any downtime or other service impacts.

Note that maintenance notices such as this one are reserved for major updates and any maintenance with expected downtime. Regular updates will continue on a weekly basis as usual with changes noted in our public Change Log: https://docs.frame.nutanix.com/changelog/frame-changelog.html
